Integrated Launcher

The brand-new, fully-integrated Launcher introduces an entirely new way to record, arrange and produce music in Studio One Pro 7. As a part of the Arrangement and side-by-side with the Timeline, the Launcher offers an all-new set of workflows, allowing users to move freely between these two environments.

  • The Launcher is based on Cells, which hold either Audio Events/Parts or Instrument Parts, depending on which track they’re on. Just like Events and Parts on the timeline, Cells only contain references to the actual Audio Clips (shown in the Pool).
  • Cells are organized into Scenes, which represent vertical stacks of Cells. These play simultaneously when the Scene is played.
  • Scenes can be organized into Playlists, which contain any number of Scenes in any order. If Scenes represent sections of a song, a Playlist could be a complete song.

Launcher Key Features

  • Create new arrangements on the fly using a grid of loops and patterns you can trigger and edit on the fly.
  • Record audio or MIDI directly into Cells
  • Edit Cells content using all available editing tools.
  • Combine Cells into Scenes to create patterns or complete song sections.
  • Create any number of Playlists from Scenes.
  • Capture an entire Launcher live performance into the Timeline in real time.
  • Offline render/convert Playlists into the timeline.
  • Seamlessly drag-and-drop between Timeline and Launcher elements (Cells, Scenes, Arranger Sections).
  • Hands-on control, directly from an ATOM or ATOM SQ controller, or Studio One Remote (update required).
  • Native support for Novation Launchpad mini [MK3], Launchpad X, and Launchpad Pro [MK3].

Scenes & Playlists

Part of the Launcher—and unique to Studio One Pro 7—is the ability to arrange Scenes into Playlists. Like the Arranger Track on the Timeline, Playlists are a quick and easy way to create, edit and test arrangements, and can also be used for live performance.

Scene Playlist Inspector

The Scene Playlist Inspector is located conveniently between Launcher and Browser. Creating Playlists is as easy as dragging Scenes into any order and setting a number of repeats.

Live Performance with Scenes

Scenes can be set to loop indefinitely until sending a command to continue, which is great for live performance.

New Looping Features

null null

Loop Tool for Events and Parts

The Loop Tool for Pattern Parts is now available for any type of Event or Part. As an alternative to duplicating events, the Loop Tool is a timesaver for intuitive arranging and production.

Event Loop Option

A new Loop option has been added to the Event/Part context menu. Enabling this option loops the Event or Part to the Song end marker, or to the next Event or Part on the same track, filling empty space.

Global Transpose

Easily Play Sessions in a Different Key

Often, a session needs to be played in a different key, either temporarily to help the artist recording his/her part, or permanently for creative reasons. In both cases, the new Global Transpose feature, which is part of the Transport Bar, provides a stunningly simple solution.

Real-time Transposition

Thanks to the exceptional quality of the élastique Pro pitch-shifting algorithms used in Studio One Pro 7, both Audio and Instrument Tracks can be transposed in real time, simply by checking which tracks should follow transpose and then entering a (relative) transpose value in the Transport bar.

AI-Powered Stem Separation

One of the most highly-requested features, stem separation is now available directly on the Timeline. Powered by AI, the stem separation algorithm in Studio One Pro 7 separates a mixed Audio Event into Drums, Bass, Chords and Vocals and adds these elements to new tracks inside a Folder Track.

As an extra option, the separated Audio Events may be bounced again into a single file. This allows for quick and easy creation of instrumentals (minus vocal) or no-drums versions.

Stem Separation as a technology is still in its infancy, so further performance/quality improvements and feature additions are planned in the near future.

Advanced Tempo Detection

Next-Level Detection Technology

To get the most out of Studio One’s built-in tempo-mapping and time-stretching tools, it’s crucial to know what the original file tempo is, particularly when importing audio files from different sources.

Studio One Pro 7 now features next-level tempo detection technologies based on deep neural networks and state of the art statistical models.

Tempo detection works for both short loops with a fixed tempo, as well as long free-form recordings with variable tempo. In addition, the sync point of an Audio Event is set to the first downbeat automatically.

Simply right-click on any Audio Event with unknown tempo and select “Audio/Detect Tempo”. Then locate the File Tempo field in the Event Inspector to read the fixed tempo value if the source file has a fixed tempo, or “Map” if the audio has variable tempo.

Impact Integration in Note Editor

Editing a virtual drum instrument such as Impact while editing patterns at the same time can be tedious, particularly on a small notebook display. The new in-place editor for Impact provides full access to all instrument parameters (pads, pad and sample editor controls) without having to open the Impact edit window. The editor is available inside the Pattern and Note Editor windows and lives side-by-side with the pattern and note editing controls.

More Mixing & Editing Enhancements

Tool bar for scale tools in Note Editor

Studio One Pro 7 provides several new features and enhancements for editing note events in-scale/key. These have been consolidated into a single panel, conveniently located in the Note Editor tool bar.

Scale Editor for User Scales

The Scale feature inside the Note Editor now supports custom user scales, which consists of a scale keyboard for editing and a dedicated preset manager. User scales are shown inside the scale menu, below the preset scales.

Filter Notes to Scale Option

Editing note events in scale is now faster and easier than ever with the new "In Scale" visibility filter option. When activated, pitches outside the currently selected scale are hidden, allowing note events to be added, shifted, or copied exclusively within the scale.

“Hide Unused Pitches” Option in Piano View

A new Loop option has been added to the Event/Part context menu. Enabling this option loops the Event or Part to the Song end marker, or to the next Event or Part on the same track, filling empty space.

Per-Pitch Resolution & Step Count in Melodic Patterns

Another highly requested feature, Patterns in Melodic mode now offer per-pitch resolution and step count, previously available only in Drum Mode.

Note Editor – Note Selection Improvements

When selecting Note Events inside the Note Editor (Piano and Drum views) using the Arrow tool, snapping is disabled to allow for more precise selection. Also, selected Note Events are highlighted immediately when touched (instead of at mouse-release).

Integration with Splice

Studio One Pro 7 is now the only DAW with Splice integrated directly into the Browser, allowing users to seamlessly access Splice's extensive sample library without needing a standalone application.

Browse and search the entire Splice catalog, preview loops in the correct song tempo and key, and drag loops or samples directly into the Arrangement, the Launcher, or the Impact and Sample One instruments.

In-App Sample Discovery Tool

Users can also utilize the all-new Splice Search with Sound tool to find matching loops and sounds for an existing session by selecting one or more Events/Parts and dragging them into the Search with Sound drop zone in the Splice tab.

A mixdown is created and uploaded automatically, prompting the Search with Sound tool to find content that matches the reference audio's style and key.

Thousands of Premium Samples Included

Studio One Pro 7 users can create a free Splice account to gain access to a premium, hand-picked library of 2,500+ curated loops and samples, with more to be added regularly for all Pro 7 users.

Add Access to Millions of Splice Samples

To maximize the new Splice integration, Studio One Pro 7 users new to Splice can sign up for a plan starting at US$12.99 per month to gain access to millions of samples in Splice's extensive library.

Existing Splice users can easily sign into their account from the Splice tab in Studio One Pro 7 for full access to the entire catalog.

7-Day Free Trial of Splice

Splice has also partnered with PreSonus to provide Studio One Pro 7 users with free 7-day trials to test the new integration to the fullest in the DAW.

Detachable Browser

Another popular feature request, the Studio One Browser is now available inside a separate window. Once detached, the Browser window can be resized and moved to a separate monitor if needed.

More Browser & Content Improvements

Dynamic Tag Menu

When searching for Loops inside the Loops tab, tags are automatically filtered based on what’s actually available. For example, searching for style “Pop” will filter the Instrument and Character tags to only what’s available in the style “Pop”.

Natural sorting for list items

Numbered items inside the Browser are now displayed with a natural sort order, so “Sine 2” comes before “Sine 10” — as expected.

Extended List View for Loops Tab

The Browser's Loops tab now features an extended list view that provides additional file information. When the window size is increased, it automatically displays length, channel count, sample rate, word length, and a waveform preview.

New CV Instrument

Hybrid studio users with vintage or modern analog hardware or modular synthesizers are now able to control their instruments directly from Studio One Pro 7.

When combined with a compatible, multi-out audio interface, the CV Instrument can translate note trigger and pitch information from Instrument Tracks to analog triggers and control voltages, which are sent from the assigned interface outputs directly to the synthesizer’s control voltage inputs.

The output signal from the external instrument can be monitored directly from the Studio One Pro 7 mixer. The CV Instrument even provides a calibration option to tune the connected oscillator and eliminate pitch drift.

CLAP Plug-in & Instrument Support

CLAP (CLever Audio Plug-in) is an open-source audio plug-in format designed to provide greater flexibility and efficiency for developers and users. This new, open-source format—already supported by developers such as Fab Filter, U-he and Plogue—is now available in Studio One Pro 7 for all platforms (macOS, Windows, Linux).

CLAP plug-ins and instruments are presented inside the Studio One Pro Browser side-by-side with any other installed formats. The Plug-in Manager can be used to filter duplicate plug-ins as before.

Since CLAP is a new and evolving format, additional features and options will become available with future Studio One Pro releases.

Improved Auto-Gain Option for Plug-ins

Several Studio One plug-ins now include an improved Auto Gain (Automatic Gain Compensation) option, which ensures better results. This relates to how gain changes are determined, which varies between different plug-ins.

The updated Auto Gain option is available in the Bitcrusher, Channel Strip, Compressor, and ProEQ plug-ins. Importantly, these changes do not affect existing sessions or presets; they only take effect when Auto mode is newly enabled.

Audio Batch Converter Now Included

The powerful Audio Batch Converter, previously available only as an add-on, is now included with Studio One Pro 7 at no extra cost. This tool handles automated file format conversion, audio repair, volume adjustments, and even plug-in processing for multiple files simultaneously. Audio files can be sent directly to the Audio Batch Converter from the Browser.
